To reach your potential, you must first escape the quicksand
Your past is littered with negative memories and failures – some of which you might not even be consciously aware. It is precisely this past negativity that has festered inside of you over a period of years and that (sometimes unbeknownst to you) rears its ugly head at the most inopportune times to undercut your efforts and desire to be successful. It may even be happening to you over and over without you even realizing just how paralyzing it is!
Have you ever been excited about a new venture one minute then rattle off five reasons why it can’t be accomplished in the next? There was a time in my life when I became convinced that I had invented and mastered this negative process! I would get really excited about something then almost immediately come up with reasons, known as negative stimuli, as to why it wouldn’t work or why I couldn’t do it.
I find that most people have had at least one experience in their lives that is just like this, and usually more than one. Look — a portion of your past is full of failures. Full of disappointments. Full of fear. Full of ridicule. Full of uncertainty. Full of shame. Full of embarrassment. Full of jealousy. Frankly, full of shit!!!! It is time to just identify this, acknowledge it, bundle it up in a great big ball, put it in the trash can of your life, and move on!
In addition to this baggage from your past that you keep carrying around, your friends, family, colleagues, co-workers, and, in actuality, most of the people you come in contact with personally and professionally on a regular basis, have provided you (and probably still provide you) with more negative content than you can handle. It’s sad, but unfortunately, it’s true.
So do yourself a favor…
leave your negative past behind, crawl out of the quicksand, and don’t look back!
